Training for journalists and community reporters on human trafficking

DEADLINE: MARCH 20, 2023 —The Devatop Centre for Africa Development (DEVATOP) is offering a three-day training for journalists and community reporters on human trafficking.

Through its TALKAM Against Trafficking in Persons (TATIP) project, the centre aims to stimulate stakeholders to take strategic action towards tackling human trafficking and harmful practices that make people vulnerable to exploitation.

The in-person training is for Nigerian print, broadcast, and online journalists residing in Delta, Enugu, and Sokoto states.

The training will equip journalists with the requisite knowledge and skills to improving public understanding of emerging forms of human trafficking, new tricks of traffickers, and spurring up actions towards identification and report cases of human trafficking, as well as pay attention to underreported cases and key issues of trafficking in persons in their locality.

Interested applicants must have background or interest in journalism, mass communication, public relations, community reporting, blogging/vlogging, and other related fields.

They must be at least 18 years of age by October 1, 2022, and have the ability to communicate in English.

The deadline for applications is March 20, 2023.
