Training on how to investigate arms trade, corruption

Journalists, activists and researchers can register to attend this free training on “Border Profiteers: How to Investigate the Arms Trade and Corruption”.

The training aims to teach participants how to investigate the border-industrial complex with methods proven across major corruption investigations.

Led by Paul Holden from Shadow World Investigations, the training will be held on March 25 (12 PM London time).

Participants will learn:

  • How to track companies, contracts, and money flows: from procurement databases to offshore shell companies
  • How to identify corruption red flags: consultancy agreements, single-bid tenders, offsets, and suspicious intermediaries
  • Use master investigative tools: company registries (OpenCorporates, OCCRP Aleph), court records (PACER, WorldLII), procurement databases (TED, OpenTender)
  • Visualise networks: map connections between companies, funders, and government contracts
  • Find and protect sources: from company whistleblowers to parliamentary oversight bodies.
