DEADLINE: AUGUST 15, 2025 — The Dataphyte Biodiversity Reporting Fellowship is now open for applications, inviting Nigerian journalists passionate about environmental and biodiversity reporting to apply for an immersive data-driven storytelling opportunity.
Designed to strengthen evidence-based journalism around Nigeria’s biodiversity crisis, the fellowship offers training and support for reporting on critical issues such as species extinction, destructive land-use practices, nature-based conservation strategies, and the unintended consequences of conservation efforts.
With threats to Nigeria’s ecosystems growing, this fellowship aims to equip journalists with the tools and knowledge to centre biodiversity in national environmental discourse. Selected fellows will receive:
Hands-on training in biodiversity data use and investigative techniques
- A reporting stipend
- Editorial support
- Access to a biodiversity reporting toolkit and datasets
Ten journalists will be chosen to investigate and produce stories from Nigeria’s key biodiversity hotspots, uncovering underreported threats and proposing viable, data-backed solutions.
